HELP!!! IT'S BROKEN!Are the machines ganging up on you? Sorry to hear that. Maybe you feel like you're up against a brick wall... maybe I can help you. I've had things break down on me hundreds of times over the years, and I learned how to fix them all. Now I can pass on some of that experience to you. Please read the disclaimer!
This web site has only started up at the beginning of February 2003, so if there is no free stuff relevant to your current problem, I apologise. If your problem is mentioned, but my comments are not clear enough, please email me using the "Tell Me About It Here" button further down the page, and I will try to make the text clearer for you - and everyone else.
There are three ways I can help you:
1. My own experiences, for free, on a range of domestic problems. The list is here. It will grow.
2. A personal service, where you can tell me about your specific tribulations here, and
3. A call out service for those of you in my local area, which covers the commuting distance around Inverness, Scotland. It's an O2 mobile number 07742 101445.
Most people have a range of broken things in their homes which they put up with, often because individually they don't matter that much, and it would cost too much to get the specialist in to sort each of them. I can probably fix most of them, make you a happier bunny, and save you money!
These are just irritations like doors or windows that don't close properly, taps that drip, wobbly furniture and the things you bought that you don't quite have the confidence to install after all...the outside light, the doorbell, the shelves, the...well, you know what they are. I can help you.
Sometimes you need a bit of help in a hurry, like when the washing machine stops washing, the fridge stops refrigerating, the cooker stops cooking, the dishwasher starts leaking or the central heating chills out.
These are what we might call emergencies, or at least "urgencies". They usually happen late on a Saturday afternoon. Perhaps someone else usually deals with these things, and they are not available when disaster strikes! That's when you need help, and NOW!
When you call me out, I will tell you what I am doing so you can fix it yourself the next time it happens. It's good for your confidence, and your wallet.
What sort of things have I fixed in the past? Washing machines, dishwashers, 'fridges, freezers, vacuum cleaners, computers, toys, cameras, video recorders, tv sets, tv boosters, doors, windows, central heating systems, motor mowers, bicycles, ships, submarines, furniture, cookers, dripping taps, general plumbing, electrical things, all sorts of mechanical devices and all the usual things like putting up shelves, curtains, blinds, blocked drains...most anything that you find in or near your house.
If you can't find a solution to your present difficulty on this web site, you may email me using the form below. I used to charge £5 "up front" for my time, and although that is a tiny price compared with a normal repairman's call out fee, I've decided to let you the user decide on the extent of your gratitude when all is sorted. It's just "friendlier" . PayPal is an excellent way of making me happy - and now you can use your Switch or Solo card or a credit card with them. If you don't trust online banking, I'll give you my mailing address! All contributions are welcome - I am delighted when someone sends me a couple of quid and a note saying "Thanks - I've just saved myself £125 ". That is what the site is all about.
If you want to try me out, please "Tell Me About It" with the button below...give as much detail as you can to help me.
PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT ONE PROBLEM MACHINE AT A TIME!
If you have managed to solve your problem with
help from this site, and would like to make a small donation to help maintain
my enthusiasm, please send it via the PayPal link below. Or you
can beg me for my mailing adress.
(If you are not already signed up with PayPal,
they will help you do this. It's free and quick!)
Just press the "Buy Now"
button to proceed. If it's all rusted up, try the main PayPal banner.
Thanks! and Good Luck, Friend!
Thanks also to everyone who writes
back saying "It wasn't a dihedral travesty of the modesty
sprocket like you suggested but I did find a displaced pancake valve...now
it's fixed." It helps the site to grow.

More about the call out
service, to reassure you...
I won't accept a call out if I don't think I can help you. If we do agree
that I should visit you, I will charge 25p per mile each way, calculated
from my starting point. I will charge £15 (OAP's £10) per hour
for the time I am with you, with a minimum charge of £10. I would like
to be paid before I leave, provided you are happy. If you are not, just say
so and I'll go on to the next job! If the main problem you have is
fixed quickly, I will be pleased to spend the rest of the time looking at
any other items you have that might need fixing. I won't waste your
time or mine, and I'm sure you'll be satisfied with my friendly help. Oh
- before you ask, milk and one sugar!
Disclaimer: These
are reports of my own experiences with domestic appliances, placed here for
you to ponder. They are provided in good faith. Your machine may have
the same fault as mine had, or may not. I hope my stories help you
discover what may be wrong with your machines, and that you can learn how
to fix them. But please, don't blame me if you do the wrong thing - I can't
accept responsibility for other people actions! If you don't feel confident,
don't do it!
Be especially careful to unplug electrical appliances before attempting
repairs. I'll say
it again...
